In Los Angeles, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across California, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Had a really great experience getting a cupcake here. Staff was very kind and welcoming, immediately got our order ready. The cupcake itself was incredibly delicious, worth buying. They sell individually and service large orders. I would definetly go again to try all their flavors.

SusieCakes is great. Climmiesha is excellent. I ran into the DTLA store and basically barked out a request as best as I could while parked in a tow zone and trying to not lose my car in pursuit of a Birthday Cake. Climmiesha not only helped me out, but made me feel good about having done so. She was an asset to both me and SusieCakes, on that day. Thank You, Climmiesha. You made a huge difference and peeled a huge amount of stress off of my afternoon. I already knew that the cake would be sweet... ... had no idea that you would be, too.

The cake was really good but the service even better. I went in for the first time and I was greeted by Ariel who was sweet and kind. I was debating between the chocolate cake or their blueberry lemon and decided to go for the chocolate after her recommendation. We had good conversation and as I was getting up, she handed me a slice of the blueberry lemon one, which was a pleasant surprise. She left a great impression of the brand. Ill be ordering more from my location in San Antonio thanks to her hospitality!

SusieCakes definitely delivers on rich, classic American-style desserts. I tried the salted caramel cupcake, the celebration cupcake, and a bite of the blueberry lemon cake. The frosting? VERY rich. Handle with care. Full disclosure: I got a tummy acheβ¦ but that was entirely self-inflicted after eating two cupcakes and sneaking a bite of cake in one sitting. Gluttony, not the bakery, is to blame. Iβm a sucker for small mom and pop bakeries, and this felt a bit more store-bought than homemade to me, but to each their ownβ¦ what do I know?! If you love thick, sweet frosting and classic flavors, this is your spot. Iβd probably go back if no other bakeries nearby were open. Sweet tooth satisfied. Stomach learned a lesson.

First time trying SusieCakes-Downtown Los Angeles on Hope Street. We were walking around and noticed that they were very busy, which normally meant it's a great place. We needed a dessert to bring to a Christmas party/dinner. Before I even ordered, I asked the staff what's the most popular dessert was? She said the Celebration Cake. The second most popular was the Apple crumb pie. We chose Apple pie. I decided to get a single slice of the celebration cake to compare taste. I thought the cake was too dense and extremely sweet, and the cake was dry. This is our taste. The pie was a better selection for us. Everyone seems to like them. They are very busy.
